The focus is organ transplantation, cardiology and diabetes. The Institute is well equipped for top level health care and research in these fields. The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (ZRIR) is focused to interventional radiology and magnetic reso-nance imaging/spectroscopy. The imaging groups collaborating within the Diabetes center in IKEM and the Charles University in Prague have documented expertise in MR contrast agent development and cell labelling. They have a long-standing well-documented track record in molecular imaging research.

IKEM is an internationally recognised centre of expertise for human/small animal imaging. There is unlimited access to state-of-the-art human and small animal imaging facilities (relaxometer 0.5T, 1.5T and 3T human MR scanners, small animal 4.7T scanner, optical imager for bioluminescence / fluorescence).
